Text: As we are just beginning to develop these tools for pest management use, we are trying to ask new questions from the landscape, areawide, watershed, and even higher scales of view. These types of questions naturally involve more "strategic" thinking than the traditional "tactical" decision support which IPM has been focused on. But there is no doubt that consideration of pest management from such a "systems design perspective" will increase in importance in the near future, especially as we develop the tools to support these new modes of thinking.
