Text: Degree-days can be calculated by a wide variety of methods. It is very important in most cases that, whatever methods were used to build a degree-day model, should be the same methods used for the implementation of the model. This goes for the calculation method (whether simple average, growing degree-days, single or double triangle or sine curve, or other technique), values of the upper and lower thresholds, and the upper threshold cutoff method (if used). The beginning date or "BIOFIX" for the model is also critical. Always pay attention to specifics about how a particular model was developed.
