Townes Van Zandt Tivoli, Utrecht, Netherlands Sunday-afternoon 17 November 1996 Here's one of the Maestro, good ol' Townes. It's possibly the last recording ever made before he died, in the night of 31 Dec 1996 - 1 Jan 1997. In loving memory of Townes Van Zandt. He was scheduled to play at three o'clock that afternoon, followed by Dale Watson at a quarter past four. This is the complete concert he did that afternoon, with a cut in the middle of A Song For. This is the whole master recording. Nothing was cut from the master, including any applause. The sound of the recording is rough. One can easily hear Van Zandt is a tired man. But it is also obvious he is a great performer, vulnerable and loveable. I can't keep from crying during this version of Marie (despite someone sneezing right through it)... This recording is not to be missed by any Townes Van Zandt admirer! I added scans of the ticket, a clipping from the Tivoli programme (in Dutch), and a newspaper clipping about his death (in Dutch). They have been folded up inside the cassette tape since the concert... I can make translations of these two in the comments-section if anyone's interested. lineage: walkman master cassette recording > wav (using CoolEdit) > flac (level 6) setlist: 01 - Loretta 02 - My Starter Won't Start This Morning 03 - Snowin' On Raton 04 - Katie Belle Blue 05 - Dollar Bill Blues 06 - Pancho & Lefty 07 - Blaze's Blues 08 - Pueblo Waltz 09 - Marie - A Song For (part 1) 10 - A Song For (part 2) - Waiting 'Round To Die 11 - (talk) 12 - Colorado Girl I went there with a friend, and we both brought our recording-equipment. But I accidentally plugged in my microphone in the earphones-hole (how stupid is that...?), and when I got home discovered that the tape was empty. So this torrent was made using the master tape my friend made.
