Hello, Townes has become a rather important person in my life. Some time back, I wrote a song in his memory and felt moved to share the lyrics. Townes had ( has ) an odd familiarity about him, yet, conversely, an almost hanted "apartness", as if he was daring us to become close to him, and only once we were nearing him, he would, with a smile and perhaps some arcane adage of which we couldn't quite grasp the meaning, vanish into the mist... at any rate, here it is, and thank you for your site and in helping keep Townes alive: Michael Andros Stage Light On The Lonely Town ( Talkin' Townes Blues ) The days pass slowly by since you've been gone The sunlight on the walls it fades And the flowers slowly dying The sound of your voice is all I've ever known Since youve been gone Since youve been gone The loneliness and shadows come to stay Since you went away You went away And all the memories come traveling back Like roadmaps I couldn't read And still I need For the lines of your face that pass me by You couldn't stay You wouldn't stay But I'm glad to have known you, see It was always you And never me Someday we'll have a drink you know Someplace when the night is done And have a talk, or maybe two Then we'll part We'd always start But you wouldn't ever stay And the days pass slowly by since you've been gone Sunlight on the walls it fades And you know the flowers slowly die And pass away Since you've been gone You couldn't stay Your voice is all I've ever known Since you've been gone Since you went away You went away...
